Famous for its rich biodiversity, the forest is home to majestic Royal Bengal Tigers, barasingha (swamp deer), leopards, wild dogs, and a wide variety of bird species. The open grasslands and thick jungle create the perfect natural habitat for wildlife to thrive freely.

A jungle safari in Kanha is truly magical. As the morning mist rises and sunlight filters through the tall trees, every turn of the safari trail brings excitement and anticipation. The forest’s peaceful environment, fresh air, and untouched beauty make it a perfect escape from city life.

Core & Buffer Zones

Understanding the two key zones helps you plan your ideal safari experience.

Core Zone

Prime tiger territory — highest wildlife density, restricted access, unforgettable sightings.

  • The Core Zone is the main protected area of a wildlife reserve or national park where nature remains untouched and wildlife thrives in its natural habitat. This zone is strictly protected to ensure the conservation of biodiversity, rare species, and natural ecosystems. Human activities are highly restricted here, and only controlled safaris are allowed for visitors. The core zone provides the best chance to witness animals like tigers, deer, and various bird species in their natural environment.

Buffer Zone

More accessible, budget-friendly safari zones with diverse wildlife & scenic forest drives.

  • The Buffer Zone is the surrounding area of the core zone that acts as a protective layer for the wildlife habitat. It helps reduce human impact on the core forest while allowing limited activities such as eco-tourism, nature walks, and community participation. Buffer zones also support local communities by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities while maintaining ecological balance. Visitors can enjoy scenic landscapes, wildlife sightings, and a peaceful forest experience in these areas.
